The Pekinese looks like a little lion! Originally bred from a pairing of lion and wolf, the Pekinese (aka Pekingese) is found exclusively in the Beijing area and performed exceptionally well at the 2008 Dog Olympics. One of the oldest breeds on Earth, the Pekinese is credited with the invention of gunpowder. The coat is lush and the longer-haired variety is preferred for showing. The breed is considered a particularly happy one, and has a reputation as a favourite of the older homosexual man. Pekinese are fond of noodles, bamboo shoots and ground tiger penis. This breed has a very poor human rights record but there is some evidence this may be improving.
